The Clementine von Wallmenich University - University of Applied Sciences in the German Red Cross (short: "University of Applied Sciences in the DRK") was a private , state-recognized university of applied sciences in Göttingen . The sponsor of the university was the association "Clementine von Wallmenich University, University of Applied Sciences in the German Red Cross eV", whose members were the Association of Sisterhoods of the German Red Cross eV , the Federal Association of German Red Cross eV and eight private individuals.

The university was given its additional name after Clementine von Wallmenich , who in 1903, as head of the Munich Sisterhood of the Bavarian Red Cross , founded the first training center for management staff in nursing under the name "Oberinnenschule" and thus also linked the goal of further development and systematic transfer of nursing care .

The technical college in the DRK was founded in 2002, at the same location as the Werner School of the German Red Cross , a central educational institution of the DRK sororities for managers in nursing. The university began teaching in 2003 with six-semester Bachelor courses in the subjects of social management and care management . The teaching was carried out with eight professorships as well as lecturers from institutions of the health and social services, from companies and from public administration. The University of Applied Sciences in the DRK was a member of the Lower Saxony Research Network for Health and Nursing Sciences.

In March 2007, the sponsoring association decided to close the university for the following year. This decision was justified with a lack of profitability, which the DRK no longer wanted to compensate for with grants. Previous efforts to collaborate with other universities have not been successful. The university made it possible for the students enrolled at that time to complete their studies and stopped teaching at the end of the 2008 summer semester.
