The Munich Sisterhood (full name: Sisterhood Munich of the Bavarian Red Cross eV ), based in Munich, is an association with 1,450 members and sponsors of health centers, hospitals, a senior citizen's facility and vocational schools for nursing professions.

Clinics of the Sisterhood of Munich
The main task is to care for sick and old people. The association owns and operates four clinic companies with a total of around 900 beds and around 2,000 employees who treat around 42,000 inpatients and around 56,000 outpatient cases annually. Each of the four locations has its own clinic management, with the management and their staff at the head office managing the individual areas strategically and across the company. The clinics of the Sisterhood of Munich include (as of May 2016):
- the Rotkreuzklinikum Munich with geriatric rehabilitation and its own women's clinic , an academic teaching hospital of the Technical University of Munich ,
- the Rotkreuzklinik Würzburg ,
- the Rotkreuzklinik Wertheim and
- the Red Cross Clinic Lindenberg .
Vocational schools for nursing professions
In addition, the Sisterhood of Munich has six vocational schools for nursing professions with around 560 places and a senior citizens facility for 140 people in Grünwald .
Nursing partnerships
Furthermore, the Sisterhood of Munich sends nursing staff to other hospitals and nursing facilities of other providers via provision contracts .
Foreign assignments and professional commitment
She participates in foreign missions of the German Red Cross in natural disasters and in crisis areas and is involved in professional policy in the Bavarian State Care Council, the German Care Council and the Federal Conference of Care Organizations (BuKo).

The Munich Sisterhood is organized as a registered association . Admission to the sisterhood is reserved for women who work in a nursing profession or are completing nursing training. These women are entitled to vote in the annual general meeting and elect the board and advisory board. Supporting members can take part in the general assembly in an advisory capacity without voting rights and are also represented on the advisory board.
In addition to representatives of the sisterhood, members of the board can also be men, for example as deputy chairmen, treasurers, lawyers, doctors or representatives of the Bavarian Red Cross . The executive board consists of the chairman, her two deputies, a secretary, the treasurer and his deputy as well as the lawyer and his deputy. The full-time chairman or general superior is Edith Dürr. All other board members are volunteers.
The advisory board includes active and retired sisters. The advisory board forms the link between members and the board.
The Munich Sisterhood of the Bavarian Red Cross e. V. is one of four Bavarian and a total of 31 German DRK sororities .
Companies
The office of the Munich Sisterhood with administration, training, public relations, quality management and the management of the clinic companies is located in Munich.
The sisterhood in Munich continues to operate a company kindergarten and a company health insurance fund as well as the vocational school for nursing in Munich and the vocational school for children's nursing in Munich. Furthermore, the vocational schools for nursing in Würzburg and Lindenberg im Allgäu , the health and nursing school at the Rotkreuzklinik Wertheim , the vocational school for Altenpflege Erding and the senior citizens' facility Parkresidenz Helmine Held in Grünwald are owned and operated by the sisterhood. At the vocational school for nursing aid Erding, the sisterhood is only the operator.
The Rotkreuzklinikum Munich as well as an affiliated hospital in Würzburg with 115 and the Rotkreuzklinik Lindenberg with 150 beds are completely owned by the sisterhood. The city of Wertheim holds a minority stake in the Rotkreuzklinik in Wertheim , Baden-Württemberg .
In 2012 the Schlossbergklinik Oberstaufen was taken over by HELIOS . The acute clinic had 105 government-funded beds as part of the hospital requirements plan of the Free State of Bavaria. The rehabilitation clinic had 120 beds, which were occupied by the German pension insurance and the health insurance companies. The Schlossbergklinik thus covered the entire spectrum of oncological treatment - from acute medical care to rehabilitation. This clinic was closed on March 31, 2016.
All houses are run as non-profit companies with limited liability and are held by the sisterhood in legally independent clinic companies with joint management (including Edith Dürr). This group of clinics is called Clinics of the Sisterhood of Munich . These clinics care for 71,000 patients annually with 1200 employees in 23 specialist departments.
On the basis of provision contracts, the association assigns nursing staff to other facilities, such as the University of Munich Clinic , German Heart Center Munich , Erding District Hospital , Asklepios Clinics Lindau and Ilm Valley Clinic Pfaffenhofen .
