The Fachklinik Aukrug is a rehabilitation clinic in Schleswig-Holstein near the village of Aukrug . The clinic is part of the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Nord and has a total of 215 beds. Orthopedic , psychosomatic and respiratory diseases are treated .

history

Construction began in 1928. For the treatment of tuberculosis , the LVA Schleswig-Holstein had set up the Tannenfelde Recreation Home near today's clinic as early as 1925. Since the capacities were insufficient, the decision was made in 1927 to build their own tuberculosis sanatorium, and the LVA acquired 133 hectares on the Tönsberg site. The new house, which had been named Sanatorium Tönsheide , was opened and put into operation in June 1931. In 1932, the Tönsheide sanatorium was officially declared a hospital - the reason for this was a switch to active tuberculosis treatment measures.

The Heidhof was put into operation as an aftercare home in 1935 , the facade of which is decorated with works by the craftsman Alwin Blaue . During the Second World War the hospital Tönsheide served as a reserve military hospital .

From 1934 to 1966 Joachim Hein was director of the Tönsheide hospital. On his initiative, Hamburg passed the Screen Image Act in 1945 and Schleswig-Holstein passed the X-ray screening law in 1947 . In addition to stationary screen display devices, mobile screen display devices were used in so-called " X-ray buses " that were stationed in Aukrug for Schleswig-Holstein until the end of the 1980s .

In 1973 the hospital became the Kurklinik Aukrug . Since 1985 it has been known as the Aukrug Specialist Clinic . 61 hectares of the clinic premises are particularly protected by the Tönsheider Forest nature reserve .
