The Landshut-Schönbrunn State Technical College for Agriculture prepares gardeners for the master craftsman examination . The school was founded in 1990 and is part of the Landshut-Schönbrunn Agricultural Education Center. Material expenses are borne by the district of Lower Bavaria . The teaching staff is provided by the Bavarian Ministry of Agriculture.
Subjects
The technical school prepares for the master craftsman examination in the following fields:
- Gardening and landscaping
- Ornamental plant cultivation
- Perennial nursery, perennial growing
- Cemetery horticulture
Gardening and landscaping
School attendance in this subject takes place either in two winters from November to March. This accommodates the weather-dependent activities of landscape gardeners. In summer the students work in the companies again. On fifteen days in summer there are excursions to contractors and suppliers of gardening and landscaping. Another option is the year-round school from September to July. In this way, the students get to the end particularly quickly.
Marketing and design - growing of ornamental plants
This specialty is of interest to gardeners for whom the presentation and marketing of ornamental plants are particularly important. The knowledge and skills for the production of ornamental plants are also in the foreground of this field. School attendance begins in September, lasts until July of the following year and ends with the master craftsman's examination. The professional qualification leads to a master gardener in the field of ornamental plant cultivation.
Cemetery gardening and perennial gardening
The preparation for these subjects takes place if necessary. The lessons essentially take place together with the field of ornamental plant cultivation. The subject-related knowledge is imparted in small groups.
entry requirements
Building on a horticultural or agricultural professional qualification, at least 24 months of professional experience must be proven at the start of school.
costs
Attending the technical school is free of charge. Students have to pay around 1300 euros for excursions, specialist books and examination fees. In addition, there are possible costs for accommodation and meals. There are funding opportunities with student and master student loans as well as an educational loan .
Exam content
The contents of the master gardener examination are standardized nationwide. The basis is the regulation on the requirements for the master craftsman's examination for the profession of gardener (last amended on October 29, 2008). The master craftsman examination consists of three parts:
- Horticultural expertise
The production, service and marketing part of the examination comprises the horticultural knowledge of the chosen subject. The requirements of the professional examination are high. Several years of professional experience is a good prerequisite for practical, masterly knowledge and skills.
- Operations and corporate management
The master's examination is a tried and tested preparation for self-employment. In order to guarantee business success, knowledge in the field of business administration, law and social studies as well as taxation is imparted.
- Vocational training and leadership
The master craftsman's certificate is proof of the qualification as a trainer. The legal basis is just as important as the ability to self-assess and motivate employees.
Educational goal
The technical school prepares for two degrees: The result of the master craftsman's examination is largely determined by the performance at the time of the oral and written examination. The examination is carried out by the professional master craftsman examination committee. School attendance is not mandatory for the master craftsman's examination - however, the chances of success without attending school are lower. The examination result of the "state-certified economist" results from the grades of the performance records during school attendance. The financial statements therefore reflect the performance over a longer period of time. The master craftsman's certificate in Bavaria has been equivalent to the technical college entrance qualification since 2008. This makes a subject-related or business degree possible.
