Facundo Goñi (* 1799 ; † December 3, 1869 in Vitoria-Gasteiz ) was a Spanish diplomat, representative in the assembly of estates and newspaper editor.

Life

In 1844 José María López Ruiz was appointed to the newly established, private chair for international law at the Ateneo de Madrid and at the same time sent on a mission to the high gate , whereupon Facundo Goñi was appointed to the chair from 1845 to 1847. From 1848 he coined the term and a concept of international relations in his publications.

From 1853 to 1854 he was a representative in the Cortes for Estella-Lizarra . In 1855 he was chargé d'affaires in León (Nicaragua) and San José (Costa Rica) and in 1857 in Santiago de Chile .

Isabella II appointed him her envoy to Maximilian I in Mexico to replace Consul General Norberto Ballesteros y Ordejón , as encargado de la correspondencia de la Legación de España en México, where he did not present his credentials, which formally constituted the Mexican Empire was not recognized by Spain.

In July 1866 he became Subsecretario (State Secretary) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , while Eusebio Calonge was Foreign Minister.

On March 15, 1867, his letter of accreditation as Envoy Extraordinary and Ministre plénipotentiaire was received by a representative of the Andrew Johnson Cabinet in Washington, DC , where he remained until 1868.
