Fahmi Balay

Fahmi Balay (born July 1, 1963 in Dohuk ) as Fehmî Balayî is an Iraqi artist and author.

Life

In 1985 Fahmi Balay completed a diploma in painting at the “Institute of Fine Arts” in Neynewa-Iraq, then studied at Al-Huraa University ( The Hague ), and in 2012 did his master’s degree there.

He is the author of numerous articles on art criticism and art history. He has been an honorary member of Irakische Kunst eV since 1985, organizing art festivals. From 1993 to 1995 Fahmi Balay was a lecturer, then he was the chairman of the association “Artists for Kurdistan in Duhok”. Fahmi Balay is a freelance photographer specializing in landscape photography.

He is a member of the European Association of Kurdish Painters in Exile . From 2000 to 2004 he was chairman of the association "Kurdische Kultur eV Berlin", member of the Russian cultural association in Berlin since 2004. Since 2005 he has been the first chairman of the Institute for Science and Research eV, 2006 founding member of the association Irakische Kunstmaler in Berlin. since 2010 member of the RAW-Tempel Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg .
