Fahrenheit is a very small impact crater in the southeastern area of the Mare Crisium . The lunar surface in its vicinity is almost free of noteworthy impact marks. To the east rise the mountain ranges of the Dorsa Harker and beyond this is the Promontorium Agarum on the edge of the lunar sea . The landing site of the Soviet lunar probe Luna 24 is about 15 kilometers to the southeast .

Fahrenheit was known as Picard X before the International Astronomical Union (IAU) gave it its own name in 1976.
