The former FTD Fahrzeugtechnik Bahnen Dessau GmbH was a medium-sized manufacturer of rail vehicles and components based in Dessau-Roßlau . The activities have been continued by Molinari Rail Systems GmbH since 11/2016.

history

The company was founded as Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau GmbH in the summer of 1995 on part of the area of the processed Waggonbau Dessau GmbH , which went back to the Deutsche Gasbahngesellschaft founded in 1895 . 180 employees from their workforce were transferred to the new company. In the following years around 20 million marks were invested in the site and the facilities. The first major order was the production of 14 cars for the Metropolitan Express Train (MET).

With retroactive effect to January 1, 1999, Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau GmbH was converted into a stock corporation on April 15, 1999. The company was 63 percent owned by the workforce, 37 percent of the shares belonged to the management. Since then the company has been called FTD Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau AG .

Since May 2006, Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau has been a member of ZAO Transmashholding , the largest company in the Russian rail vehicle market.

After the bankruptcy at the end of March 2008, the Romanian Compania de Transport Feroviar Bucuresti SA (CTF), which operates as a railway company and freight wagon manufacturer , took over the company at the end of December 2008 and renamed it FTD Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau GmbH CTF . In March 2012, insolvency proceedings were reopened for the company. According to media reports from July 2012, the company was taken over by TransTec Vetschau GmbH.

From August 1st, 2012 the company was called FTD Fahrzeugtechnik Bahnen Dessau GmbH .

However, another bankruptcy petition was filed in March 2016. Since no new investor could be found, the plant was initially closed in summer 2016. The assets were taken over by the Sino-Swiss joint venture Molinari Rail Systems GmbH, which opened the plant as a new location on November 1, 2016 with a permanent workforce of 50 employees. In the meantime (as of the beginning of 2019) the company has 75 employees. The turnover in 2018 was five million euros.

production

The product range included car bodies, drive systems and door modules for rail vehicles. Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau developed, designed and manufactured prototypes and small series of passenger coaches, vehicle heads, open and closed freight wagons, bogies and special vehicles including their testing and commissioning. Other services included maintenance, servicing, repairs, renovation and renovation work, revisions and welding service for railways.

Well-known products are the business train Metropolitan Express Train (MET) as well as the prototype of the "Light Innovative Regional Express ( LIREX )" for Alstom LHB in 2000. Another product from Fahrzeugtechnik Dessau is the PROTOS , an electric or diesel-electric powered low-floor regional train with a Top speed of 160 km / h.
