Fairyland is a French symphonic power metal band.
history
The band was founded in France in 1998 under the name “Fantasia” by Philippe Giordana and Willdric Lievin, who were both fans of epic and symphonic heavy metal.
The first demo Realm of Wonders was released in 2000.
For the recordings of the first album, Anthony Parker ( Heavenly ) a guitarist and Elisa C. Martin ( Dark Moor ) a singer were engaged. The debut Of Wars in Osyrhia was released in 2003 under a new name . This was followed by a tour of France as a support act for Sonata Arctica and an appearance at the Sweden Rock Festival .
In 2006 the second album The Fall of an Empire was released with a new line-up on the Napalm Records label . The singer Elisa C. Martin was replaced by Max Leclerq. Thomas Cesario took over the bass, while Pierre-Emmanuel Desfray was on the drums.
After another tour in the opening act for Kamelot there was a split between the band members, which meant that everyone except keyboardist Philippe Giordana left the band.
However, this continued and released in March 2009 with Score to a New Beginning, the third album, which was recorded exclusively with guest musicians. Elisa C. Martin returned to the microphone and shared it with Georg Neuhauser from Serenity, among others .
In 2020, after 11 years, the new album Osyrhianta was released, which was announced in 2018.
style
The music of Fairyland is a mixture of symphonic metal and power metal, which is mainly dominated by the keyboard play of the composer Philippe Giordana. It is not uncommon for the structure of most songs or even entire instrumental pieces to resemble the music from film soundtracks. The lyrical concept is about the specially created world "Osyrhia", of which a conceptual story is told on every album.
