Falcon City of Wonders

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Falcon City of Wonders is a major construction project in Dubai , United Arab Emirates . The approximately 7 square kilometers covering urbanization is part of the larger Dubailand complex and will reflect the seven ancient wonders of the world as a distinguishing feature , as well as some more modern buildings such as the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal in an almost realistic replica.

The wonders of the world copies are framed by relatively small replicas of the associated cityscapes, which New York (with skyscrapers at "Central Park"), London (with Big Ben), Venice (with gondola canal), Paris (with Eiffel Tower), Rome (with Colosseum), Pisa (with a leaning tower), Beirut, Babylon ( Hanging Gardens of Semiramis ) and Old Dubai ( Shindagha ). To shield the living areas from the 36.6 hectare theme park, the "Great Wall of China" is brought up in its original size over a length of 1700 meters.

When viewed from high altitude or from space , the buildings will have the shape of a flying falcon . The replica of the Eiffel Tower planned in the center will be used as a hotel by allowing barely visible panes of glass to be embedded in the load-bearing metal structure. This building will even tower a few meters above the original Parisian Eiffel Tower (300 meters high). Some other replicas are not empty either, but are used inside, so that often only the outer shape appears. The wonders of the world are mostly placed in the tail area of the falcon, while the body and wings of the bird are formed from modern mansion settlements. At the head of the urbanization there will again be a spectacular shopping center, the “Falcon City Mall”, which should be easily accessible from all sides. The administration of Falcon City will be located in one of the smaller pyramids of Giza , while the modern Cheops pyramid is announced as the world's largest pyramid.

The project is being carried out by the Falcon City of Wonders Company, funded by local businessman Salem al Moosa . The approximate up-front investment of the project amounts to the equivalent of one billion euros. The original idea was developed in Berlin / Potsdam by the group of people Baschynsky, Heuke, and Farman. The BBZ gGmbH / Kreuzberger Kreis, the German civil engineering and the architecture office Farman were involved in the planning agreement. Planning for the Emirate of Fujairah began in 2001. The Emirate of Dubai then moved the “Falcon Project” to Dubai without involving the group in the project. Construction work began in 2008 and was discontinued the following year due to the global financial crisis. However, the entire Falcon City of Wonders - in contrast to the usual fast project implementation in Dubai - should not be completed until 2020 anyway.
