Falk Oppel
Falk Oppel (born January 23, 1944 in Darmstadt ) is a German doctor and university professor.
Life
Oppel was born in Darmstadt in 1944, where he also went to school. After studying human medicine , he first worked in Berlin at the Steglitz Clinic of the Free University of Berlin , where he trained as a specialist in neurosurgery. In 1986 he moved to the Gilead Hospitals in Bielefeld as head of neurosurgery, where he was able to develop and establish epilepsy surgery as a special focus . Until 1997 Oppel was chairman of the working group for presurgical epilepsy diagnostics and operative epilepsy therapy . Oppel placed a special focus of his work on training foreign doctors in epilepsy surgery, especially in South America and the Middle East. For this he was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2004. In 2009 Oppel retired.
