The Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Division 2 Hermann Göring was a large unit of the Wehrmacht belonging to the Luftwaffe , which was formed in the late phase of the Second World War . The division was set up on September 24, 1944 on the military training area in the middle of Radom in the General Government of Poland .

Mission history

The division was deployed in October and November with Army Group Center in the Vistula bend. In February 1945, the division fought as part of Army Group North in East Prussia . After that she was assigned to the OKH reserve in April and relocated to Central Germany. It was here that she last fought in the Ore Mountains in May 1945 and was also taken prisoner by the Allies here.
