The Falteshütte is an Alpine Club hut belonging to the Würzburg section of the German Alpine Club . It is located below the Kalbenstein and above the Main between the towns of Karlstadt and Gambach .
history
On the initiative and under the direction of Heribertaltenbacher, the members of the Würzburg section of the German Alpine Club, founded in 1876, built a shelter and rest hut on their own property below the rock faces of the Kalbenstein. To honor the initiator, the hut was named Faltes hut. In 1994 the hut was expanded and expanded to its present size. Between 2003 and 2004, the association built a hiking trail from the Falteshütte to the Gambacher Grotto.
Location and infrastructure
The Falteshütte is in close proximity to the railway line and the Main on Gmündener Straße ( B 26 ) between Karlstadt and Gambach. It has two rooms for 50 and 25 people and 24 beds for self-catering. Catering by the Alpine Club is only available on Sundays and public holidays between March and December. The hut is connected to a nearby car park and via hiking trails to the Gambacher Grotto and the Grainberg-Kalbenstein nature reserve . In addition, the Lenzsteig, a via ferrata to the Edelweiß ( summit cross ) on the Kalbenstein with a climbing garden, begins next to the hut .
