The GDR citizen, the unknown being: the - West German - series describes the life of the East German Bergmann family. There are many well-known behavior patterns and problems in everyday life - but other reactions are unfamiliar to the Western citizen and must first be understood. The series wants to work out these similarities and differences. The miners have to be prepared for turbulent days when the Wartburg they had ordered was delivered a year earlier than planned. And the “voluntary” work involved in completing a kindergarten in the miners' residential area is not only a source of joy.
