The Sottrum Family Park is a leisure park in Holle ( Sottrum district ) in the Hildesheim district in Lower Saxony , which is geared towards families. Among other things, educational programs for kindergarten and elementary school groups are offered.

The main goal of the Sottrum Family Park is to understand, shape and preserve nature and the environment. Supplements are added every year; Existing facilities and theme parks are partly left to nature, which overgrows older individual works.

The number of visitors fluctuates depending on weather conditions, on average around 100,000 visitors come to the park each year, around 30% of them groups.

history

The amusement park was built in 1986 on the former site of the bankrupt Eulenspiegelpark . The current owner, Peter Deicke , who took care of the animals in Eulenspiegelpark, converted it into a "currentless" family park. There are leftovers from the time of the Eulenspiegel Park. The amusement park now extends over an area of 18 hectares.

description

There are three lakes in the center of the park. The larger one has pedal boats , on the second lake there are stake boats and islands with theme parks and climbing castles . The third one is natural ( water lilies , etc.) and cannot be driven on individually, but can only be crossed with a small hand-operated ferry.

A path with theme parks leads around these lakes. Along this path there are bouncy cushions and the “Zwergenland” area for small children. Two more paths branch off at the gastronomy, on the one hand to the "dwarf country" and on the other hand to and through the farm and the circus and then back to the circular route. There are also theme parks along these paths.

Move

The Sottrum family park relies on its own creativity and movement. There are no electrically operated machines, only the two jumping cushions for children up to eight and over eight years of age have blowers. Opportunities for movement include pedal boat swans and raft rafts in the water, carousels and a 5-meter "Ferris wheel" that has to be operated by a bicycle drive.

In addition to the playhouse with bouncy cushions, there are also bicycle “race tracks”, trampolines and the “dwarf land” with water games and climbing opportunities, especially for small children.

Older children will find another larger jumping cushion, tree houses, pirate ships and climbing walls in the park.

Theme parks

The themes of the parks relate to natural and cultural history as well as phenomena and problems from physics and mathematics. The history of the earth is explained, stones and plants are labeled, individual handicrafts, a forge and old farm equipment are presented. All kinds of special topics are presented, such as the world of hedgehogs, insects, mushrooms and traces of animals in nature.

Each theme park is a small collection of curiosities designed to appeal to children and adults at the same time and to make them think. Topics include “Museum of Nothing”, “Park of Love”, “Zoo of the Ethereal Animals”, “Zoo of the Future”, “Ufolandeplatz”, “Schimpfwortweg”, “Flight School”, “6. Sense ”and“ worry tree ”.

farm

In the farm almost all domestic animals are kept, especially older breeds that are hard to find today. Sheep, goats, chickens and geese run free where possible, visitors have free access to the enclosures. The main path crosses a pig enclosure, in which animals roaming freely can be petted and observed. Bees and crops are in a side panel.

Prizes and awards

On May 15, 2007, the Sottrum family park was awarded the “Oscar for theme parks” by the “Kind in Hannover” editorial team. Two of the six theme parks were awarded this special prize.

In 2011 and 2012, the Sottrum Family Park was nominated for the “Grand Prize for Medium-Sized Enterprises” from the Oskar Patzelt Foundation .
