The Fan Mountains ( Tajik Кӯҳҳои Фон ) are high mountains in Central Asia . The mountain range belongs to the western Pamir Mountains and is mainly located in the Tajik province of Sughd .
geography
The mountains are bounded in the north by the valley of the Serafshan River and in the south by the Hissar Mountains . The "Haft Kul" (Seven Lakes) are located on the western border. The Fandarja, a left tributary of the Serafshan, represents part of the eastern border. In the eastern part of the mountain there is also the moraine lake Iskanderkul . The mountain range is accessible from the southeast via the road to Iskanderkul. The development from the north-west runs through the city of Punjakent .

The highest mountain in the mountain range, the Tschimtarga , is 5489 m high. At the same time, it represents the highest elevation of the superordinate Serafschan chain , a mountain range in the extreme southwest of the Tian Shan mountain system.
Other peaks over 5000 m are: Bodkhona (5138 m), Mirali (5132 m), Energia (5120 m), Zamok (5070 m) and Chapdara (5050 m).
