The Fanning River is a river in the east of the Australian state of Queensland .
geography
River course
The river arises on the western slopes of the Hervey Range , about 38 km southwest of Townsville from the Fanning River West Branch and the Fanning River East Branch . From there it flows south and flows into the Burdekin River about 4 km northeast of the Sellheim settlement on the Flinders Highway , about 15 km east of Charters Towers .
