Fanny tanning

Fanny Bräuning (* 1975 in Basel ) is a Swiss film director of documentaries . She was best known for the film No More Smoke Signals .

Life

Fanny Bräuning, born in Basel in 1975, is the daughter of Annette and Niggi Bräuning. She also grew up in Basel and graduated from school there. From 1996 to 2001 she studied film at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in Zurich . During her studies she made the short film My Mother . After completing her diploma film Paloma , she worked as assistant director for feature film productions for Swiss television (then SF DRS) and did script and set management at Basilea Film AG.

In 1999 she was assistant director on a short film by Dieter Stürmer . In 2004, together with Kaspar Kasics, she founded Distant Lights GmbH, a film production company for documentaries and feature films with social, political and cultural topics. In 2009 her first feature film, No More Smoke Signals, was released . Her award-winning documentary Immer und Ewig was released in 2018 .

She has lived in Berlin with her son since 2004.
