Fantasy - gods, warriors and demons

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fantasy - Gods, Warriors and Demons was a series of magazines published by Bastei . It was published from March 26, 1985 to April 8, 1986.

Edition history

Fantasy was the only fantasy series from Bastei Verlag that was published as a booklet. Both stand-alone novels and sub-series were printed. Some of the sub-series were continued after being discontinued in the paperback. It appeared both the subgenres sword and magic as well as high fantasy attributable novels.

Sub-series

Several sub-series appeared within the series.

One of the series was The Story of a Sorcerer's Apprentice by Viktor Sobek. This sub-series was brought to an end under the new sub-series title Omno & Jobab after it was discontinued in three paperbacks within the Goldmann Fantasy paperback series .

Another series was Straße der Götter by Rolf Michael and Werner K. Giesa . Only booklets by Rolf Michael appeared within the series, who also continued the story in the Bastei-Lübbe paperback (three volumes). The three already written novels by Giesa were reworked by Giesa and then appeared within the series Professor Zamorra - where he integrated this fantasy world and had a number of novels play there. The cycle of the series Professor Zamorra (books 186 to 191), which takes place within the fantasy world of the street of the gods, was later published as a paperback by Bastei-Lübbe. Two already finished novels by Rolf Michael were put together in a paperback by Bastei-Lübbe-Verlag and the cycle ended with two more paperbacks.

The sub-series Heart of the Forest was published by Wolfgang Hohlbein . This was later slightly expanded and reprinted as a paperback within Goldmann Fantasy and later reissued in an anthology.

Alfred Wallon wrote the sub-series The Saga of Thorin the Warrior under real names. The sub-series was later continued in self-publishing and, after the end of the series, continued as paperback by various publishers and reprinted in part revised.
