Sensitometry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to DIN standard 19040 (part 12), the term sensitometry is defined as: "Investigation of the photographic properties of radiation-sensitive materials and the various steps of the photographic process".

Especially in photography as well as in film and video technology, sensitometry is the collective term for measuring methods with which properties, e.g. B. the sensitivity, photographic materials can be determined. In particular, also the name for the light sensitivity measurement of photographic papers.

In photo technology and in prepress, sensitometry is the measurement of the light sensitivity of a light-sensitive emulsion , e.g. B. a film or a plate .

To put it simply: sensitometry is concerned with the effect light has on photo paper or film.

A variant of sensitometry is color sensitometry , in which the color sensitivity is measured.
