The Farewell Mountain (from English farewell 'farewell' ) is a large and isolated mountain in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises on the western edge of the Rennick Glacier .
The northern group of a campaign carried out by the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition from 1962 to 1963 named it so because they could not visit it due to lack of time and at the same time as an alternative to the naming of the Welcome Mountain, which towers 60 km further north .
