Dwayne Clemons

Dwayne Clemons (born July 3, 1963 in Los Angeles ) is an American jazz musician ( trumpet , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Clemons grew up in Dallas, Texas; at the age of eight he started playing the trumpet. Early role models were jazz trumpets like Dizzy Gillespie , Sonny Cohn , Red Garland , James Clay , Buster Smith , Marchel Ivery and Claude Johnson . After moving to New York in 1985, he worked with Clarence Sharpe , Jonah Jones , Barry Harris and Tommy Turrentine . He also directed a quintet with Josh Benko and Sacha Perry ; He was also a member of Charles Davis' band and toured Scandinavia with Amanda Sedgwick and Freddie Redd . Currently Clemons, who lives in Sweden and the USA, plays in the Amanda Sedgwick Quintet. Between 2010 and 2014 recordings were made with Alex Hoffman ( Dark Lights ) and Amanda Sedgwick ( Shadow and Act ); He also released an album under his own name ( Live at Smalls ), with Josh Benko (alto and baritone saxophone), Sacha Perry, Murray Wall , Jon Roche (bass) and Jimmy Wormworth .
