Murray Wall

Murray Wall (born September 28, 1945 in Melbourne ) is an Australian , living in the United States jazz musician ( double bass ) of mainstream jazz .

Live and act

Wall was a self-taught double bass who had learned from Oscar Pettiford by playing the records . He began playing professionally in 1962 and played with guest musicians in Australia such as Clark Terry , Mel Tormé and Billy Eckstine , and in his home country from the 1970s with the Brian Brown Quintet & The Jazzbird Orchestra, Tony Gould and Lloyd Lifton. He moved to the USA in 1979 and played with Jon Hendricks from 1981–85 , including touring Europe and Israel. From the 1980s he lived in New York City and played a. a. with Benny Goodman , Vivian Lord , Marty Grosz , Keith Ingham , in the New York City All-Star Big Band , with Joel Helleny , Spanky Davis , Ken Peplowski and Warren Vaché . In the field of jazz he was involved in 48 recording sessions between 1974 and 2016. a. also with Peter Ecklund , Joel Helleny, Joe Puma , Ben Aronov , Barbara Lea and Dave Van Ronk .
