Fariborz Lachini
Fariborz Lachini (born August 25, 1949 in Tehran , Iran ) is a musician.
Life
Fariborz Lachini has been making music for more than three decades. In his twenties and just before the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Lachini had already achieved success in the pop music world , composing music for some of today's pop icons, as well as music for children. Most types of music were banned after the revolution, so Lachini emigrated to France to study music and computer science.
Living in Europe and studying at the "Université de Paris - Sorbonne " added a European touch to Lachini's music and influenced his style in that it evolved into a characteristic marriage of contemporary Persian and European styles.
He even mastered the technique of creating selected exotic Middle Eastern instruments. This immediately placed him in a unique position when he entered the world of film music . The film music for the Berlin Special Mention winner, Snake's Fang , is an example of this. Variety says: “The extraordinary music is an electronic version of traditional South Persian percussion. The soundtrack reflects the tempo and signals of danger and action throughout the film. "
Lachini released his first solo album, Golden Autumn , in the early 1990s . By breaking all barriers with his music, the album quickly became the most famous album in all of Iran. It made Lachini a household name and he became known as the master of today's piano. A track from the album Golden Autumn 1 is on iTunes Best List - a lineup of world classics, showing that Lachini is one of the few non-Western artists who contributed to classical music.
Lachini has worked on more than a hundred film projects. Considered the most innovative composing talent in the Middle East , he has worked for internationally acclaimed Iranian filmmakers . One of his most recent works is Iraq's 2006 Academy Award pick, Requiem of Snow . Variety wrote about the soundtrack: "... Fariborz Lachini's sad acoustic music leaves a moving sound in the wake of images."
As more and more artistic Iranian films appear at festivals around the globe, Lachini's reputation as a leading composer of unforgettable heartfelt melodies and film scores that transcend cultural boundaries is growing.
