Faro de Cabo Cruz (also called Faro Vargas ) is a manned lighthouse ( Faro in Spanish ) in Cuba . It stands on the outskirts of Niquero in the Granma province .

Construction of the lighthouse began in 1862 and was completed in 1871, during the Spanish rule over Cuba. The architectural ensemble consists of the lighthouse and the house for the lighthouse keeper . The 32 m high tower, built from stone blocks, has an internal staircase with 155 steps for access to the lantern . The house with an inner courtyard and a terrace overlooking the sea is also made of natural stone blocks.
The beacon has a fire height of 34 m and shows a white flash as an identifier with a return of 5 seconds (Fl.W.5s).
