Niquero is a municipality and a city in the Cuban province of Granma . It is located in the coastal region of the province on the Gulf of Guacanayabo . Cabo Cruz ( Cape Cruz ), the westernmost point of the province, is located in this municipality.

In 2008 a Martian crater was named after the city.

Demographics

In 2004 the municipality had a population of 41,252. With an area of ​​583 km², it has a population density of 70.9 inhabitants per square kilometer.
