Río Cauto (Municipio)

Río Cauto is a municipality in the Cuban province of Granma , located in the valley of the river of the same name .

Río Cauto has 47,600 inhabitants on an area of ​​1,505 km². In terms of area, it is the largest municipality in Granmas.

Agriculture is the largest branch of the economy in Río Cauto. A large proportion is the cultivation of sugar cane . Animal husbandry , fishing and rice cultivation are also of great importance.

Geographical location

Río Cauto is located in the northwest of the Granma province. In the north and northeast the municipality borders on the province of Las Tunas , in the south on the municipalities Yara and Bayamo , in the east on the municipality Cauto Cristo and in the west Río Cauto borders on the Gulf of Guanacayabo .
