The Punta de Teno , also Punta Teno , is a cape in the extreme northwest of the Canary Island of Tenerife, which belongs to Spain . The cape is the westernmost point on the island. The Punta de Teno belongs to the municipality of Buenavista del Norte . The cape offers a good view, in good weather you can see the cliffs of Los Gigantes and the two western neighboring islands of La Gomera and La Palma from there .

Infrastructure

The cape is connected to Buenavista del Norte, several kilometers to the east, via the TF-445 secondary road. The formerly dilapidated street was renovated in 2013 and opened to traffic again in 2015, but after the street collapsed due to a landslide in July 2016, it was closed again. Therefore there are plans for a toll to be able to finance the maintenance of the road. On December 23, 2016, it was opened to general traffic again for the time being. On January 14, 2017, a regulation came into force according to which the road is closed to private traffic on weekends and public holidays. On these days there is a shuttle bus from Buenavista to Punta de Teno. On April 18, 2018, the regulation was tightened again and visits for trips with your own car without a special permit are now only permitted on Mondays to Wednesdays. Since April 15, 2019, the road has been closed all week from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (in the summer months from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.). The shuttle bus continues to run every hour for € 1 per trip and person (line 369).
