Farver Mill
The Farver Mill (or Farver Windmill ) is an old windmill in the municipality of Wangels near Gut Farve in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein . Due to its location on a slight hill approx. 100 meters south of the B 202, it is easily visible and one of the sights of the Wangels community.
description
It is a three-story Erdholländermühle : on the clad with boards octagonal base (tower) is located with the reed covered mill body and the thatched cap. The mill is equipped with sail blades and has a “ codend ” - a long wooden rod (construction) that extends to the ground - which is used to align the windmill blades against the wind .
The windmill was built in 1828 as a mill for the Farve estate as a replacement for a water mill (with sail blades and “codend”). In the 1930s, the mill was brought up to the state-of-the-art: it was fitted with vented-edged blades to increase its output.
Today the windmill is no longer in operation; it was converted into a residential building and is now used as a holiday home.
Others
