Farwell is the county capital and seat of the county seat of Parmer County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located at the intersection of US Highway 60 with US Highway 84 in the southwest of the county, in the northwest of Texas, the so-called Texas Panhandle , on the state border with New Mexico and has a total area of 2.1 km 2 without any significant water surface .
Demographic data
According to the 2000 census, 1,364 people lived here in 499 households and 346 families. The population density was 642.2 people per km 2 . The racial the population was composed of 75.00% White, 0.44% African American, 0.51% Native American, 1.03% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 20.82% other ethnic groups. About 2.20% were mixed race and 31.96% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 499 households, 34.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 56.9% of these were married couples living together. 9.6% were single mothers and 30.5% were non-families. 28.1% of all households were single households and 17.2% had people living there who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.18.
27.9% of the population were under 18 years old, 6.8% 18 to 24, 24.8% 25 to 44, 20.6% 45 to 64, and 19.9% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 88.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 80.9 men.
