Barrel roll
A barrel roll (engl. Barrel roll ) is a maneuver in which the aircraft is flying a helical line in the horizontal direction, such as when it is at the inside of a horizontal imaginary cylinder or barrel would roll. In terms of flying, the barrel roll is a combination of a controlled roll and a simultaneous looping . The barrel roll is not included in the Aresti catalog and is therefore not a competitive figure.
During the barrel roll, the acceleration forces always remain positive. A famous trick is to pour a cup of coffee during a perfectly flown barrel roll. This maneuver has a special meaning in aerial combat. If you approach an opponent at the same or greater height, you can position yourself with the help of half a barrel roll over his aircraft without losing sight of it. From the following inverted flight out then you can swivel in any direction to get behind the enemy.
