The 2002 West Asian Football Championship was the second edition of the football competition. The tournament was held in Syria between August 30th and September 7th, 2002 . The Iraqi national team won the tournament with a 3-2 win after extra time over the selection of Jordan .
The group stage draw took place on August 13, 2002 at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur .
