action

Shortly before the early 20-year-old Christian is supposed to give a speech at the wedding party of his older brother Andy, he prepares himself in the toilet and tries to calm himself down with a little alcohol. Martin, his brother's future father-in-law, comes in and suddenly stands right next to him while peeing, comments on Christian's urine stream and then waves his best piece in front of him. White Martin wants to talk to Christian, whose father is black, about "size" too. He asks him to tie his tie, then takes Christian's pants and comments on the smell of his tail.

In his speech, Martin tells of the circumstances surrounding Lucy's conception and thanks his wife Judith for her daughter. When he passes the microphone on to Christian, Christian finds it difficult to get into his speech. When he comes out of the concept, he vomits. His brother Andy is a little bit acidic as a result.

At the party that followed, Christian tries to get into a conversation with a young woman, but here too Martin strikes back in between. Christian goes outside where it is raining and smashes the side window of Martin's chic roadster. While he is disappearing, Martin comes out of the house called by the alarm system.

production

Dominic Mafham plays Martin, the bride's father, in the title role

Directed by Rhys Marc Jones , who also wrote the script.

Jay Lycurgo plays Christian, while Dominic Mafham takes on the role of Martin, his "antagonist" in the new family. While Father of the Bride was one of his first roles for Lycurgo , Mafham has been a stage, film and television actor since the mid-1990s.

After the cancellation of the South by Southwest Film Festival , where the film was due to premiere in March 2020, the independent film distributor Oscilloscope Laboratories and the technology company Mailchimp made the film available free of charge on a joint online platform for 30 days. In addition, Father of the Bride is one of the films that were to be shown at the South by Southwest Film Festival and were made available virtually by Amazon through a cooperation with Amazon Prime Video as part of the “SXSW 2020 Film Festival Collection”. The film was available for free in the United States for ten days in front of the Prime Video paywall.
