Fatos Kongoli (born January 12, 1944 in Elbasan ) is an Albanian writer .

Kongoli says that he was born in December 1943, but that due to the chaos of the war, his parents could not register him officially until January. As a child, Kongoli and his family moved to Tirana . He studied mathematics in Tirana and the People's Republic of China . In 1967 he finished his studies and then worked as a math teacher for two years. Since 1970 he has worked as a culture editor for publishers , magazines and newspapers. Fatos Kongoli, father of two adult children who emigrated to America, lives with his wife Lili in Tirana.

Works

Kongoli summarizes the five novels written between 1992 and 2004 in the cycle “The Dungeons of Memory”. In these works in particular, but also in his work in general, it is about the relationship of the individual to state power . In his works he also addresses the end of communism and the mass emigration of Albanians afterwards.
