Fatum Elisum was a Death Doom and Gothic Metal band founded in 2007 .

history

Oriented towards early representatives of Death Doom as well as Black and Dark Metal , guitarists Hugo and Christophe founded Fatum Elisum with drummer Sator and bassist Asgeirr in 2007. The group named Deinonychus as a special influence . End soon joined as a singer. After the first rehearsals together, Sator left the band and was replaced by a second Christophe. In November 2007 the band appeared as the opening act for Indesinence and Ataraxie . In June 2008 Fatum Elisum recorded their debut EP in cooperation with Post Ghost Recordings . Stu Gregg signed the group for Aesthetic Death Records and re-released the self-titled EP in September 2009. This was followed by international appearances with Esoteric , Mournful Congregation , Rising Dust , Yuck and Longing for Dawn as well as on Dutch Doom Day . In 2011 the album Homo Hihilis was released via Aesthetic Death. Fatum Elisu broke up in 2014.

style

The style played by Fatum Elisum is mostly attributed to Death Doom, but the group is mostly compared to representatives of Gothic Metal. Several parallels are drawn to My Dying Bride . Paradise Lost , Type O Negative and Cathedral are named as further comparative variables . The group itself, however, draws parallels to Deinonychus, whose music also varies between Death Doom, Funeral Doom, Gothic, Death and Dark Metal.

Singing is emphasized as a distinctive feature of the music. According to anvil mag, the end would vary between epic singing, rumbling and screaming . According to the same review, the "music [...] changes constantly and next to short melodic excursions you find yourself in the doom-death gallop and the highlight is the 'desperation part", which lets you feel your despair when he spits out the words. "According to Metal.de" dominates a plaintive baritone who does not deny a certain resemblance to Peter Steele (TYPE O NEGATIVE) in parts , but turns into a powerful grunt or occasionally into a tortured whimper ". The guitar playing is described as particularly varied on the one hand, and typical of Death Doom on the other. According to music reviews, there is little that is remarkable about the " riffs and stretched leads [...]". The rhythm is mostly kept calm but is also varied.
