Faturó

Faturó (also Faturo , Futoro ) was a traditional empire in today's East Timorese municipality Lautém . The residents belonged to the Fataluku ethnic group .

history

In the 1830s, Faturó rebelled against the Portuguese colonial rulers. Governor Pedro de Rego Barreto da Gama e Castro then took action against the empire. In 1860 Faturó was assigned to the Lautém military command by Governor Afonso de Castro . He also lists Faturó in his list of the empires of Timor from 1868. In 1867 Faturó had officially concluded an alliance with the Portuguese governor Francisco Teixeira da Silva .
