Francisco Teixeira da Silva

Francisco Teixeira da Silva (* 1826 in Lisbon ; † April 26, 1894 in Beira , Mozambique ) was governor of several Portuguese colonies .

Life

From 1865 to 1869, Silva was governor of Portuguese Timor . Here he put down several riots . At the end of his service life, Silva fell so seriously ill that he could not carry out his office.

In 1876 Silva became governor of Moçâmedes , a district in southern Angola. He later took over from January 26, 1882 to May 24, 1884 the post of governor of São Tomé and Príncipe . On May 30, 1887, Silva became governor of Portuguese Guinea . He gave up this office on September 4, 1888 to become Governor of Macau on February 5, 1889 . This he remained until October 16, 1890. From February 4, 1892 to March 9, 1893 Silva was Governor General of Portuguese India and finally from 1893 to 1894 Governor General of Mozambique, where he died.
