The Faulbach is a section of stream in Cologne after the confluence of the Flehbach and Bruchbach at the junction of the BAB 4 near the tram depot of the Cologne transport company in Cologne-Merheim .

Naming

The Faulbach owes its name to the sluggish or slow and therefore "lazy" flow speed of the water. Another explanation says that its water has a brackish or brittle and therefore “rotten” quality.

history

The Faulbach used to feed the formerly fish-rich Merheimer Bruch, which has now dried up because a deeper bed was dug for the creek because of its ravages during floods. As a result, it was directed in Cologne-Holweide on the so-called Erk near the Schlagbaum estate under the Strunde and led partially canalised north of the Mülheimer bridge into the Rhine. The height difference at the intersection with the Strunde is 1–2 meters.
