Fistball Schwellbrunn is a sports club in Schwellbrunn , which played successfully in the Swiss National League A from 2005 to 2011.

history

On October 14, 1981, a few members of the men's team founded an independent fistball team within the Schwellbrunn gymnastics club. The sport of fistball was initially ridiculed in the gymnastics club, but it was more and more popular and soon the first junior team emerged from a few students. The so-called 1st team initially played in the 2nd division, but rose to the 1st division in the second year. With a few exceptions, the club's performance remained constant in the first division until 2003. Then came the breakthrough with young players from the offspring. First in the hall and then in the field, the Fanion team climbed the ladder up to National League A almost every year.

The fistball team, which is still integrated in the gymnastics club, now appears in public under the name of Schwellbrunn fistball. With around 35 members (as of January 2011), the squad was one of the smallest clubs in the National League A.

After the departure of several regular players from the 1st team in the 2010/11 indoor season, the younger team was in 9th place at the end of the field season and had to be relegated to the National League B. Likewise, the league did not succeed at the end of the 2011/12 indoor season. After further departures of regular players, Schwellbrunn fistball rose voluntarily to the 2nd league after the 2013 field season. A newly formed 1st team started the 2013/14 indoor season and ended the 2014 field season in 1st place. After a year in the 1st division, the 1st team was relegated back to the 2nd division. Since the field season 2017, the 1st team has been playing in the 1st league again and managed to stay in the league at the end of the season.

In the 2017/18 season, two men's and three junior teams of the club will play in the regional and national games.
