Fauzi Bowo

Fauzi Bowo (born April 10, 1948 in Jakarta ) is an Indonesian politician. He was Governor of Jakarta from October 2007 to October 2012.

Between February 19, 2014 and May 2018, he was Indonesia's ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany .

Career

Ascent

Bowo studied architecture from 1968 to 1976 at the Technical University of Braunschweig .

From 1987 Bowo worked in the Jakarta administration. He was also treasurer of the Golkar party from 1993 to 1997 .

In 1999 Fauzi submitted his dissertation in the department of architecture / civil engineering (spatial and environmental planning) at the University of Kaiserslautern . In 2000 he received his doctorate with “cum laude” as Dr.-Ing.

Before 2007, Bowo was Lieutenant Governor of Jakarta.

In the August 2007 elections, he prevailed against his only rival, Adang Daradjatun , and was elected Governor of Jakarta. Fauzi was supported by 20 nationalist and secular parties, including PDI-P , Golkar and PD . Adang only received support from the Islamic PKS. It was the first elections for Jakarta governor.
