Society for economic and social cybernetics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Society for Economic and Social Cybernetics e. V. (GWS) is a recognized non-profit scientific society that was founded in 1968 under the patronage of the Rationalization Curatorium of German Business (RKW) with the decisive involvement of the then CEO of Thyssen Röhrenwerke AG, Ernst-Wolf Mommsen .

Goals and Membership

The aim of this scientific society, which is established in the entire German-speaking area, is to bring together (top) managers, practitioners and scientists who are involved in the discussion and further development of social and economic problem solutions from the point of view of systems theory and general cybernetics , but are particularly interested from a corporate and social cybernetic perspective. Around half of the members currently work at universities.

Conference proceedings

As a rule, a scientific congress is held every 18 months, which is later documented in a separate conference proceedings. This mainly focuses on practical problems related to the application of system-theoretical and cybernetic knowledge.

Xing group

There is a moderated GWS XING group as a contact point for GWS members and for all those interested in the broad field of economic and social cybernetics. In the group, topics from corporate cybernetics, management cybernetics, organizational cybernetics, sociological system theory, social cybernetics, systemic management and others are welcome regardless of their methodological orientation.
