Fawzi Bin Abdul Majeed Shobokshi ( Arabic فوزي شبكوشي; * 1938 in Jeddah ) is a Saudi diplomat in retirement .

Education

In 1961, he graduated in law at the University of Cairo from, and received an honorary doctorate from the University of Baguio in Baguio City in the Philippines .

Career

In 1961 he joined the foreign service. In 1963 he became consul of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Vienna, Austria. From 1967 to 1971 he headed the Sudan Department in the Foreign Ministry. From 1971 to 1979 he was chargé d'affaires in Taipei in the Republic of China (Taiwan) . From 1979 to 1983 he was ambassador to Manila ( Philippines ). From 1983 to 1997 Ambassador to Tokyo , where he became doyen of the diplomatic corps in 1994 . From 1997 to May 6, 1999 he was ambassador to Moscow . From May 6, 1999 to November 11, 2008, he was permanent representative of the Saudi Arabian government next to the UN headquarters .
