Fear Liath

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Am Fear Liath Mòr ( Scottish Gaelic for the great gray man ; also known as The great man of Ben MacDhui ) is the name of a cryptid who is said to live in the region around Ben Macdhui in Scotland between Banffshire and Aberdeenshire .

Fear Liath is described in two different appearances. In the real form, he represents a six-meter-tall man covered with short hair. The other appearance is of a spiritual nature, in which it is said to be an invisible “presence”, especially to give mountain climbers a queasy stomach feeling.

The probability for the real existence of this being is very small to impossible, nevertheless there are some photographs of unusual footprints which are ascribed to him. In the Scottish tradition it is considered a supernatural phenomenon, but there are also occasional comparisons with the Yeti of the Himalayas and the Bigfoot of North America .
