The Federação Santomense de Basquetebol ( FSBB ) is the national umbrella organization for basketball in the African island republic of São Tomé and Príncipe . It is based in the Bairro Quinto de San Antonio in the capital São Tomé .
The association was founded after the country was declared independent from Portugal in 1975. In 1983 the FSBB was accepted by the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA).
The FSBB is a member of the Comité Olímpico de São Tomé e Príncipe , the Saotomesian National Olympic Committee .
The FSBB selections have not yet qualified for the Olympic Games, World Championships or the African Championship (as of 2015) . The FSBB selection was only able to take part in the Jogos da Lusofonia 2009 , the second Portuguese-speaking World Games that took place in Lisbon in 2009 , thanks to financial and logistical help from foundations and political institutions from São Tomé and Príncipe and Portugal. She did not succeed in winning a medal.
