Fehrenholz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fehrenholz ( Danish : Færgeskov , also Færensholt ) is the name of a group of houses and a forest on the border between the communities Haselberg and Kronsgaard in eastern fishing in the Schleswig-Flensburg district, Schleswig-Holstein . In the Danish period the forest belonged to the parish of Gelting (Gelting Sogn) within the Kappeler Harde. The forest is about 19 hectares and can be characterized as a classic peasant forest with well-preserved coppice forest and a wide variety of forest types. There are many old trees with some noticeably bizarre growth.

The name Fehrenholz was first documented in writing in 1834 and goes in Danish. Færnæs as a headland (-næs) for a crossing point. Accordingly, the name Færgeskov can be found in Danish, for example Fährwald. The suffix -holz ends in ndt. And dän. brings back for wood. The forest and a building used to belong to Gut Oehe, a few kilometers to the south. The area has now been designated as the FFH area Fehrenholz as a NATURA 2000 protected area.
