The Acos District is located in the Acomayo Province of the Cusco Region in south-central Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of ​​138 km². The 2017 census counted 2395 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3151, in 2007 it was 2545. The district administration is located at an altitude of 3096  m in the village of Acos with 835 inhabitants (as of 2017). Acos is about 7 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Acomayo . In the extreme south of the district is the archaeological site Waqrapukara.

Geographical location

The Acos district is located in the Andean highlands in the central west of the Acomayo province. The Río Apurímac flows north along the western district boundary.

The Acos district borders in the extreme southwest of the district Omacha ( province Paruro ) in the west and the northwest by the districts Pillpinto and Colcha (both also in the province of Paruro) on the north by the district Rondocan , on the east by the district Acomayo and in the south to the Pomacanchi district .
