The Rondocan District is located in the Acomayo Province of the Cusco Region in south-central Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of ​​183 km². The 2017 census counted 2095 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 4439, in 2007 it was 2918. The district administration is located in the village of Rondocan with 236 inhabitants (as of 2017) at an altitude of 3359  m . Rondocan is located about 20 km north-northwest of the provincial capital Acomayo .

Geographical location

The district of Rondocan is located in the Andean highlands in the far north of the province of Acomayo. The Río Apurímac flows north along the southwestern district boundary .

The district of Rondocan is bordered to the west by the districts of Colcha and Paruro (both in the province of Paruro ), to the north and northeast by the districts of Lucre , Andahuaylillas and Huaro (all three in the province of Quispicanchi ), to the southeast by the district of Acomayo and to the south to the Acos district .
