The Acomayo District is located in the Acomayo Province of the Cusco Region in south-central Peru . The district was established on June 21, 1825. It has an area of ​​141 km². The 2017 census counted 4779 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 5356, in 2007 it was 5380. The district and provincial administration is located in the city ​​of Acomayo at an altitude of 3221  m with 2600 inhabitants (as of 2017). Acomayo is located 55 km south-southeast of the regional capital Cusco .

Geographical location

The Acomayo District is located in the Andean highlands in the central east of the Acomayo Province.

The district of Acomayo borders in the west on the district Acos , in the northwest on the district Rondocan , in the north on the district Huaro ( province Quispicanchi ), in the east on the districts Quiquijana (province Quispicanchi) and Sangarará and in the south on the district Pomacanchi .
