The Huaro district is located in the Quispicanchi province of the Cusco region in south-central Peru . The district was established on September 26, 1952. It has an area of 106.28 km². At the 2017 census, there were 4505 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 4418 in 2007 it was 4366. The district administration is located in the 3162 m high town of Huaro with 1833 inhabitants (as of 2017). Huaro is about 2 km west of the provincial capital Urcos .
Geographical location
The district of Huaro is located in the Andes in the southwest of the province of Quispicanchi. The district extends over the catchment area of the Quebrada Huaro and the upper catchment area of the Quebrada Sullumayo, both left tributaries of the Río Vilcanota (upper reaches of the Río Urubamba).
The district of Huaro borders in the northwest with the district Andahuaylillas , in the east with the districts Urcos and Quiquijana , in the south with the district Acomayo ( province Acomayo ) and in the south-west with the district Rondocan (also in the province Acomayo).
