Aettir ( Old Norse aett = family, clan) are the subdivisions of the Old Norse runic alphabet into 3 groups of eight runes each. This name, which has only been handed down for the Old Norse runes, is also transferred to the older runes .

The first group, Fehu Aett (or Freyrs Aett ), consists of the runes in the older Futhark: Fehu , Uruz , Thurisaz , Ansuz , Raidho , Kenaz , Gebo , Wunjo .
